Day 1, 15 april 2011

After a good nights sleep we went down to get som breakfast. First day, first breakfast. We went to a café at the hotel. We were seated and then given the menu....and then we waw the prizes!! Wow! And that is without anything to drink! I think I had 'Corned Beef Hash and Eggs', if I remember correctly. I don't remember what M took, but it was something else. The portions were large though, I couldn't eat everything on the plate, it was too much. The bill came (with tips) to around 50$. So we didn't do that anymore.

In the middle of the casino this statues was. I thought it was nice so I had to take a picture. I wasn't sure if I was allowed to, but others were taking pictures and nobody told them not to, so I did the same.

We continued outside and theese two were showing people inside.

I saw them the day before, when I was walking around. And it was after that I realized I was outside! The light was quite similar at night.

This market stall was what I was going to see the night before. I was so focused on that so I was about to miss that I was outside :) That is a feeling I never thought I would hade! How did I realize I was outside? I saw Imperial palace in the background and then I looked up! And there was the sky!!

This is what it looked like walking to the right from the entrese we just walked out from. This direction we walked many times the first days!

Forum shops where at the opposite from our hotel, at the other side of the street. Here M and I manidged to stand on different spots and wait for each other. It took som time, a lot of messaging and a phonecall before we found each other! We were on our way to Ceasars Palace at that moment.

Mirage was also at the opposite from our hotel, a little norht from Forum shops. One of Harrah's entrences was right behind me while taking this picture.

And as I turend around I saw this. The ceiling you see to the right is the entrence to Harrah's. McDonalds is where we went to use the internet. As the "internet access" required an registered kreditcard, and that reserved 100 dollars a day for our entire stay, meaning 1400 $ that we might need to something else! Eh...no. We did not register our kreditcard!

Casino Royal is the casino at the left in the picture.

You could try to win this car. We didn't :)

And a proper picture at the entrance to Harrah's. As you can se the McDonalds is right outside, to the left in this picture.

Waling north we walked past some maskines in the street! I had to take a picture of that!

Treasure Island. This day we didn't walk into any hotels. We just walked along the strip.

I think that the teams at the different casinos are great! They are so well made! Here you could see Sirens answering their call every night at certain times. It was a show we didn't see until later in the vacation.

The pirateship.

And on our way back, on the other side of the street, I realized that next to the pirateship was a skull! That was quite awsome, I think!

This is the Fasion show mall. We went in for a moment. But we didn't stay for long. I bought a bottle of water with my creditcard! That was a stupid way of buying water! But it didn't accept anything else!

This is a part of Whynn/Encore garden. At least I think it is the Wynn garden.

The Venetian is almost opposite to Treasure Island. It is little more to the south though. It is a great picture of what Venice lookes like! The Rialto in the background had a moving walkway inside. The Rialto is the bridge in Venice, for those that didn't know.

I think this high building is found at Piazza San Marco in Venice. Where the pillar is found I do not know.

This is the

I decided to go for a walk by myself, so I went walking to the south. It was an adventure just finding the road to the south! Because when I got out of Harrah's it looked like the road was a dead end to the left, and walking to the right meant walking north. But after a while I figured out it just U-turned around a carparking entrence, or something. So I had to walk to what I thought was a dead-end and then turn right, walk a bit and then turn left and south!

I thought Margaritaville was such a great name on this place! So I had to take a photo. I was insede for a moment, but I didn't my a margarita.

After a while I figured it was time to continue to Ceasars palace and meat up with M. I found this statue and figured this is a great place to wait by! So I messaged I am here. I got as an answer, so is he. I told him I was beside the statue, and got the answer: What statue? After some arguing we found each other. I will say I was on the right spot!

After that it was easy to find the entrance, and we went on the moving walkway all the way down to the casino.

There one could line up to take a photo with Cleopatra and Caesar. And who is the third? We didn't stand in line. I took a quick picture and we where on our way again.

We walked through the casino. M stopped at some maschines and played and then we went to eat something before we continues our walk. We manidged to loose each other again while I was in the bathroom and M was outside. And I didn't see him when I came back. The bathroom doors were all different! With pictures of statues on them.

Anyway, as we left the casino we came into Rome! Or so it seamd! And a beautiful fake sky!

I was blown away! It was really beautiful! And everything inside!

As we came to the end of the street there was an icecream stand. I had to take a picture of it! It looked so yummy!!! Not at all as the icecream I am used to with just the icecream lying there....this was decorated to max!

Finally we came to a ... lets call it a roundabout. With a aquarium-pillar in the middle. It was quite nice!

There also was a Cheesecake factory. I regret us not ordering any cheesecake that time. We didn't come back to here even though I thought we would. We were not so happy that it was a dead end, we had to walk all the way back....

...to the casino, and there find our way out.

Getting back to harrah's from the south looks like this. We had to walk around the place where the palm trees are.

We were quite tired after our day. We had seen so much and walked a lot! I can't remember us doing anything else this evening. Might have been so that M played some slots. But nothing more exiting.

The journey begins

At 13 april the jouney begun. At first we travelled to Sweeden, where we stayed at the Radisson SAS hotel.

We woke early and went down for breakfast. Then we took the transferbus outside the hotel to terminal 5.

We where on time. It is said that we have to be checked in 2-3 hours before take off, so we where there 3 hours before. The take off was at 9.45 am lokal time.

At the flight we got some snacks and a choose of something to drink. We both chose Cola. And got a miniatyr can with 1,5 dl, and some snacks. Mine was almonds, M got pretzels. The remote went to the touch-screen small TV that was on the back of every seat. I could use the remote to choose from the options on the screen (but why do that when it is a touch-screen?) and I could use it while playing games (I had to use the remote then). The TV screen was a lifesaver on this 8 hour flight! Or 8,5 hours. But that was down from the estimated time of 9,5 hours so I don't complain. I like flying and had not so much against being on the plain for 8 hours. M could not find the rest to look at movies, some he watched, so he played some games and red some magasines and then he was bored.

We got curry chicken for lunch! It was good, for airplanefood. And I didn't manidge to eat all, so M got a little extra. The desert I didn't give away! It was some sort of peach vanilla-thing

At Chicago we had to go true security. I had to go to the bathroom, but first we had to go true security, and it was a long line! There were restrooms before that, but I didn't realize that it would take so much time! We had to take off our shoes and stuff. I don't understand, we went through security in Arlanda, why do it again?

Finally we got through, without problems, and then we went for the nearest restroom. The toilets are quite fanzy! See the plastic on the ring? Follow the instructions below....

...and you get a clean sitting area! And they flush by themselves!

We soon found our gate, but first we went for a bite. I chose a pizza slice, and M a filled sandwich. 3 hours in Chicago only, and getting through security took one hour. So not that much waiting.

We soon got on the plane and I was tired! I fell asleep during the flight. M told me that there had been quite lot of turbulence during the flight, and I who didn't think I slept that much, had no idea about them! I guesse I did sleep! There where no servings on this plane, only if one wanted to buy something.

We took a taxi to the hotell, Harrah's. Checked in and asked about the internet. We had a delux room with internet access. I don't remember the reason for choosing the delux, it must have been the internet access. And boy where we scrued! Yeah, we had internet access, for 10 dollars a day. That isn't so bad. But we had do register a creditcard that would reserv 100 dollars a day, for everyday we stayed at the hotell. That is 14 days times 100 dollars, makes 1400 dollars! They would not charge any money we didn't use, but that was an auful lot of money that we might need for something else! So we had a delux room without internet access! Great success....

But we had a safetybos inside our room. With a code that we could choose ourselves. That felt good.

And the room was nice! The beds where big, We could have manidged with one. I don't know why we had two.

The bathroom. It was big enough.

but the bathtub wasn't much to brag about. The shower could change to a massageshower if one wanted to. I tried all the different kinds. But I did like the regular shower best.

We went down to check out the casino. And it was fantastic! All the slots! This photo is taken from an entrance. It is not taken the first day, because I left the camera in the room. I went walking throught the casino, came to this entrance. It was darker, we arrived at 5.30 pm. When I walked through the entrance and outside I felt a difference in the air, but it wasn't before I looked up that I realized I was outside! And the sight was so ... I can't describe it! The reason I didn't notice I was going outside is that there where giftshopcarts near the entrance, and I was about to check them out. I walked a bit along the strip, and it was amasing! M had stayed to play on some slot, and I went for a walk.

I was quite tired after the long day, M on the other hand was to exited to go to sleep, so he stayed up playing slots and playing some poker! He did well at the poker, not so much at the slots. I woke in the middle of the night trying to send him messages. He didn't answer. I was up and couldn't go back to sleep so I went down to see it I could find him. He was sitting at a pokertable, unable to answer the messages I had sent him.

He played a bit more and then he came up to sleep. It had been an exiting day! And a long day! Fortunately time has no meaning in Vegas! The action is a little less from 4 am to 8 am, but there is still happenings almost everywhere.

Las Vegas Baby!

For years we have been planning this trip. A trip to Las Vegas! We have chosen dates and postpone them, told friends about our plans and never made them come true. Now they have!

As I write this blog the times to departure is getting closer and closer. As the blog is being publiced we should be somewhere over the Atlantic :) (but as it where, it wasn't! And now I notised!)

I have still some things to do. Packing, I saved that to the last minute so that I wont be overexited for so many days :)

Some money has been exchaned. I have to figure out how much is to be used for each day.

One adaper we got from Swanssons. And some other stuff came with the price.

Here is everything! Tickers, info, everything :) Our tickers are electronic som it's not the end of the world if we loose them.

We also have a area guid and map to read. M says there is a lot of interesting information. I haven't looked at it that closely yet. Only browsed thrue it.

I have to stop writing! :) I get overexited! Lets see how often I update during the trip. That depends on the internet awailability in our room. I have to check that out before we go. I remembered I forgot to ask that.

Let's hope the flight will be fun :) I love flying!!

(This is the blog I wrote a few days before departure. Today, when I visited the blog first time since, it had not been publiced, because for some reason the publicing date wasn't 14 april 2011, it was 8 april 2014? Why? Maybe the dates on this blog is upside down...I have to change that right now! So enjoy! My pre-departure blog. I will update the blog now after returning because the internet was 10 $ a day and I had ro register my creditcard in order to get the internet so that would have been 100 $ reserved for the rest of the visit. Take that times 14 days and there is a whole of a lot of money that we could need for something else! So no internet, no updates)
